I think they look a little more refined in the Hobbit films. They had to give each character some personality, since the story is about 13 dwarves (and 1 hobbit). The dwarves in the LoTR movies all look a bit cookie-cutterish to me.

Where should dwarves appear in LotR? The only two dwarves who show up are Gloin, briefly in Rivendell, and Gimli.
