I think this is the third adaptation.

So they're using music by Pink Floyd, I hear a cover of "Eclipse" from Dark Side of the Moon in background, as its sound track? What other music we might recognize is in the ST, and why use music from an early-70's prog-rock album instead of original music or at least more obscure numbers? I'm not even quite clear whether it's a cover, or the original heavily processed with echoes? (added: Naah, it's a cover, but definitely "Eclipse")
Hopefully this version holds up better than Lynch's 1984 version, which managed to disappoint despite Lynch, Sting in a major role, and presumably a huge Fx budget. Hopefully it doesn't come off too much like SW: Attack of the Clones with differently-shaped spaceships and armor, either.

Trailer music rarely makes it into the main production. I hope it's a good production, too. But I'm not sure if/when/how I'll watch it.

I saw the latest trailer a week or two ago. Looks interesting. I still have not read the novel, although I've had a few false starts. I've seen parts of the old movie, but it never interested me that much. A big budget Villeneuve movie will likely be worth a look for the visuals alone, IMO. Blade Runner 2049 certainly was.

So people will recognize something musically and pay a little more attention. And if you have a favorable memory of the music, that may transfer over to the trailer. See "Girl w/ Dragon Tattoo" and Led Zep's "Immigrant Song"

They used that song for some of the Thor: Ragnarok trailers. I think they used it in the movie, too.

I do hope it's good and hope I get to see it some day. :/
