Just saw The Rise of Skywalker.
The story's a bit messy.
Not as good as The Last Jedi, which I absolutely loved and rate higher than Empire Strikes Back.
Palpatine being alive wasn't foreshadowed in the previous films. All we get is the opening Star Wars narrator scroll. I got a feeling his return wasn't actually decided until Rise of Skywalker was being planned.
So this is how I rank the nine films:
Last Jedi
Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
A New Hope
Force Awakens
Revenge of the Sith
Backstroke of the West
Rise of Skywalker
Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones (George, are you serious?)

I liked the movie. Though at 2hrs22 min (plus all of those pre-views) it exceeded my limits, and I had to guess on when the best time for a break was.
I guessed the plot point wrong: Rey and Ben are not twins separated at birth.
But the movie brought the whole saga around to an end
Just a quick question: Are light sabers built with different color lights, or do they reflect the inner powers of the Jedi/Sith? i.e. Blue is good, red is bad... But what other colors can there be? What other colors have there been?
PS: I know that Carrie Fisher had died before this movie came out, and they did a good job putting her in, but didn't another actor die? I mean besides Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker. Someone who's role was entirely CGI in the latest movie.

I thought it was a bit of a mess myself. They were moving so fast that I could not really immerse myself in the different worlds they dropped into. In terms of coherence, the Last Jedi was better.
I would suggest watching the last arc of the clone wars on DisneyPlus. Best Star Wars I have seen, although you'd need to get up to date on the whole 6 seasons (or highlights of it) before watching the last arc.

I could only watch it once, myself. Haven't wanted to go back.
I think all the actors in this trilogy are very good at their craft but the story-telling was awful compared to the George Lucas movies, and I know some people feel he really botched things up. But there was more coherency in his movies than I've seen in these.

Yeah, only Rogue One has been good out of the Disney stock of movies. I couldn't watch any of their "trilogy" a second time.

Rogue One is a great movie, and in my opinion an incredible example of retconning.

Yes. I'll still take it over literally any other movie Disney Lucasfilm put out, though.

I just saw this movie on tv, and the late scene where the young couple join forces to defeat the resurrected dark lord in a battle of "magic" seemed to be right out of an Andre Norton Witch World novel. I'm a big fan of hers, so that put a smile on my face.
