Introduction to Mordomin
#1
Mordomin is an Elf of the First Age, who came to Middle-earth with the host of the Noldor in their ill-fated attempt to wrest the Silmarils back from the Great Enemy. He has remained in Middle-earth through to the time of the War of the Ring not through choice but because of his curse.  In the First Age he was captured by Sauron, and the Dark Lord conducted sorcerous experiments upon him in his lair on Tol-en-Gaurhoth. These involved Sauron embedding a part of his evil spirit, or fëa, in Mordomin's right arm, with the object of placing Mordomin under the control of Sauron.  Mordomin was freed by Lúthien before the transformation could be completed.

His cursed arm is jet black in color, and Mordomin always covers his arms with long sleeves and black gloves or gauntlets; the mere sight of its flesh uncovered can drive mad with horror and fear any save those of the strongest of will.  Furthermore, to touch the blackened flesh of hand or arm is death, for to do so is to directly contact the Malice of the Dark Lord, which only the great may do  and live.  Like the body of Sauron, the cursed arm radiates a great heat; but this can be contained completely by the wearing of even the most ordinary of clothing, and is in no case of any harm to the person of Mordomin.  The arm is nearly proof from all harm to itself. and can swiftly heal the rest of the body of Mordomin of injuries that would slay any other Mortal, although taxing the body greatly in doing so.  It is possessed of enormous strength, and confers upon Mordomin a hardiness beyond even that of other Elves born in the Blessed Realm.  Lastly, due to the power within his cursed arm, Mordomin cannot be harmed by poison of sting nor bite nor any substance otherwise baleful to Man or Elf, nor is he affected by drink.

The will of Sauron lives within the cursed arm of Mordomin.  That Will strives with Mordomin for control of the limb that it inhabits, and sometimes wins.  When it does, it may lash out at friends or allies to horrible effect.  Too, that Will can extend its power to influence the mind of Mordomin, distorting his judgement or even bending his will.  For this reason, the Wise will seldom seek out Mordomin for advice, despite that he is one of the oldest and mightiest of the Firstborn east of the Sea.

The power of the arm’s Will waxes and wanes along with the fortunes of the Dark Lord himself.  Toward the end of the 2nd Age, when Sauron made his great Ring, his power was so great that Mordomin was entirely in his thrall.  In those days Mordomin was a terrible warrior in the service of the Enemy, and the Elves do not forget it.  Neither does Mordomin.  It is feared that, if the Dark Lord should ever recover his Ring, Mordomin will once again become a force for Darkness.  It is for this reason that Mordomin hates above all save the Dark Lord himself Isildur and his heirs; for Isildur in his pride failed to destroy the One Ring when he had the chance, and doomed Mordomin to continue to live under his curse by his failure.
