I wonder if this is a good idea since the first movie was unbeatable like Snow white and the seven dwarves or Gone with the wind or the original Star Wars trilogy or LOTR trilogy.

Just so people are aware,
IMDB says a remake is in development.
I'm not really sure it will have a wide appeal. Secret Nazi conspiracies have become the butt of comic books and oddball movies like "Captain America" and "Iron Sky".

Yep, I think the first one is about all one needs. I don't recall it being a huge hit, although it got a few Oscar nominations (although no win.) And the plot seems sort of quaint now....

They occupy a unique position as "safe" villains, though. It's a sort of cinematic shorthand at this point. If there's Nazis in a movie, we all know where we stand. Funny, I clicked the IMDB link there, and the page popped up with big ads for Amazon's new "The Man in the High Castle" show. I took me a second to register that. :laugh:
