Apparently this is produced by a German company but done in English, with American actors (then again, so were Independence Day and The Patriot.)

Directed by Reinhard Klooss, the mo-cap film was written by Jessica Postigo (The Mortal Instruments) and Yoni Brenner (Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs). Voice actors include Kellan Lutz (Twilight) as Tarzan and Spencer Locke (Resident Evil: Afterlife) as Jane.

Despite the fact that we're living in a post-Avatar world, the effects look a little ... dated, to say the least.

They feel like an awkward cross between kiddie CGI and photo-realistic, which doesn't really work on-screen.

The film has yet to lock down a U.S. distributor, though it's set to open next summer in international markets.

It's hard to believe they used full motion-capture for his movement. Maybe the problem isn't that "John Carter" hurt the franchise so much as the quality of the animation is not really what American audiences expect.
