It's no surprise to Doctor Who fans that Harry Potter director David Yates is working on a Doctor Who film. The L.A. Times has an article about Yates, Harry Potter withdrawal, and where in the future we can expect to find Doctor Who (more-or-less).
I think the implication that Doctor Who was more appealing to Yates and screenwriter Steve Kloves than Stephen King's The Stand may spark some idle conversations in dark corners of the universe; I would be surprise if many Stephen King fans feel outraged, though (do Stephen King fans get outraged about anything connected to King's name?).
