According to
Coming Soon, a fourth installment in the "Underworld" franchise is being developed. Although no details have been released yet, they quote screenwriter John Hlavin as saying:[indent]"It will satisfy old fans and excite new audiences, meaning that we don't want to redo the first three movies, so steps are being taken to honor what fans have loved but at the same time introduce fresh elements." As long as Michael Sheen is in it, I'll be happy. :bg:

The 'Underworld' franchise still some (un)life to it. Since we've already seen the genesis of the Vampire/Lycan War, then we don't need to rehash that story element again.
They could introduce more humans into the story -- vampire hunters, for instance. The first film laid the premise that humans were unaware of the warring tribes of vamps and werewolves. By adding a human faction, that would send things off-kilter.

I think they can look at the potential conflict between the new hybrid species and the two older bloodlines.
