Is it me or does this year 'blockbuster season' not seem very exciting?!

Edit: Here's a comparison with the same week last year (numbers from Box Office Mojo)

1. The Hangover $54,089,440
2. Up $46,112,546
3. The Taking of Pelham $32,032,325
4. Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian $14,805,754
5. Land of the Lost $13,870,045
6. Star Trek $8,315,504
7. Imagine That $8,251,378
8. Terminator Salvation $7,307,626
9. Angels & Demons $6,238,418
10. Drag Me to Hell $5,978,595

Star Trek, Terminator, Angels and Demons - were all May releases; they're did better than movies that have just opened or are in their 2nd or 3rd week this year

And we were in a recession last year.

It will be interesting to see how the July/August releases do.

I think I saw a headline recently that said something about this year's box office being somewhat down. I'm not sure what the context was, though.

I think you're right, Luthien...just not an exciting season at all. I go to the movies almost every Saturday morning ( it's my therapy...almost always lifts my spirits, even when the movie's crappy ). I think, in all of 2009, I missed maybe 4 or 5 weeks the whole year. I can think of at least 4 weeks already that I haven't gone this year, including this weekend and last. It's all the more unusual because this is that time twixt Memorial Day and July 4th ! As a comparison, looking at last years's list, I saw 8 of the 10 movies in the theater. I've only seen four from this past weekend's list. Cry  :teary:
