I heard that they were going to make a movie about the marines who were called Devil dogs by the Nazis and one based on Jack Higgins books.

Don't know anything about the "Devil Dogs" movie but apparently at one time Lee Marvin was going to star in a movie based on a Higgins novel directed by Edward Dmytryk. I don't know if it was ever made.

There's a totally different Devil Dogs script, written by Josh Becker, that has been shopped around for years but never filmed. But it's about the battle in WW1 where they first got that name. It can be read online at his site.
