From
SciFi Wire, the
Hollywood Reporter, and a hundred other reports, Sam is attached to co-produce "Sleeper," a DC graphic novel, along with Tom Cruise for Warner Bros. - Cruise would also star.
Quote:Written by Ed Brubaker with art by Sean Phillips, Sleeper--which ran from 2003-'05--centers on an operative whose fusion with an alien artifact makes him impervious to pain and allows him to pass it on to others through skin contact. He is placed undercover in a villainous organization by an intelligence agency and falls for a member of the group, named Miss Misery.

Apparently Brubaker claims the Raimi/Cruise effort is "at least" the fifth time a serious attempt has been made to bring "Sleeper" to the big screen.
I've never heard of it. I don't follow anything that happens at Wildstorm any more because most of it is completely irrelevant, IMO. I'm convinced that the only reason DC brought Wildstorm under their wing from it's previous publisher, Image Comics, was to get mega-star artist Jim Lee back into the fold.
As far as Wildstorm goes, though, the only interesting property they really have is Wildcats, even though if in it's early days it was highly derivative of various popular Marvel and DC properties.

From
ComingSoon.net:
Quote:Warner Bros. Pictures has hired Brad Ingelsby to write Sleeper, an adaptation of the DC Comics/Wildstorm comic being produced by Sam Raimi with Star Road Entertainment partner Josh Donen, reports Variety.
The comic, written by Ed Brubaker, centers on an operative whose fusion with an alien artifact makes him impervious to pain and allows him to pass the ability on to others through skin contact.
Ingelsby made his first script sale in March, selling Low Dweller for Ridley Scott to direct and Leonardo DiCaprio to star in.
Although, it must be pointed out for the benefit of aspiring writers, this Inglesby dude got his start writing the scipt for an independent, 34-minute short film movie called "The Honeyfields," shot in 2006 for $44,000, which won awards at the Newport Beach and Trenton Film Festival.
