HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGIE!
:crown: :birthday:
un: :blow: :bg:
From her IMDB bio:
Angela was born in Auckland, New Zealand but her father's early success in business meant she travelled extensively when she young. By the age of 11, she had lived in Ft. Lauderdale, Los Angeles, London and Sydney and had spent six months in India with her mother and older sister. Her family returned to Auckland in 1985 and five years later, at age 16, she began modeling. She won the role of Kirsty in Shortland Street at her first audition. Angela's interests apart from acting include art, graphic design, music, writing, travel and kickboxing. Angela lives in Auckland with her longtime partner Temuera Morrison, New Zealand's biggest film star. Angela's performance in the acclaimed New Zealand police drama earned "Lawless" earned her the 1999 New Zealand Television Award for Best Actress. She has reprised her character in two additional television movies.
From her "Lawless" profile:
It was great to be able to do something different," she says. "Jodie is ambitious, gutsy and honest, and more than anything, she wants to be a cop."
Dotchin continues; "She understands the predicament Lawless is in and she empathises with him. She knows there’s crooked cops because she’s seen it with her own eyes from working in the office at the Police Station."
The action side to the film also presented Dotchin with a unique opportunity.
"I get to kick butt," she laughs. "That was really fun!"
When Dotchin’s character, Jodie, gets drawn deeper into dangerous waters, she remains unfazed. Says Dotchin: "Jodie’s a bit of a fearless daredevil. She knows that with some cunning and her contacts from being inside the police station, she can help Lawless put things right. Even though she’s putting her own career at stake, her passion for the excitement is too much for her to ignore."
Since leaving Shortland Street two years ago, Dotchin played roles in the American series Xena: Warrior Princess and the Hercules spin-off Young Hercules. She soon caught the attention of the shows' executive producers at Pacific Renaissance, and she went on to win the female lead role in their upcoming series Jack of All Trades, starting January in the US.
